Description

Soft in the center, lightly crisp around the edges, and filled with gooey chocolate in every bite, these homemade chocolate chip cookies are the kind of classic treat that never disappoints.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon fine salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and creamy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix just until combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop the dough into portions of about 1 1/2 tablespoons each and place them 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden and the centers still look slightly soft.
  9. Let the cookies rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool.

Notes

  • For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 20 to 30 minutes before baking.
  • Do not overbake if you want a soft center.
  • Press a few extra chocolate chips on top before baking for a prettier finish.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
