Ingredients

Units Scale

Spinach and Cheese Mixture

  • 16 oz fresh spinach
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 4-6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 cup mozzarella, shredded
  • 1 cup parmesan, grated
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Others

  • 1-2 tsp vegetable oil
  • 6 sheets oven-ready lasagna pasta
  • 2 1/2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup mozzarella, shredded
  • 1/2 cup parmesan, grated

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven – Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Cook Spinach – Heat a large skillet on medium heat and add vegetable oil. Sauté the spinach until soft, around 2-3 minutes, in batches if necessary. Set aside.
  • Mix Spinach & Cheese – In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked spinach with the remaining ingredients for the spinach and cheese mixture: ricotta cheese, garlic, oregano, basil, mozzarella, parmesan, salt, and black pepper. Fold until everything is well incorporated.
  • Prepare Casserole Dish – Grease a large 9×13-inch casserole dish. Spoon ½ cup marinara sauce into the bottom of the dish and spread it evenly.
  • Layer Lasagna – Layer the lasagna by placing oven-ready pasta sheets on top of the marinara sauce. Then, add half of the spinach and cheese mixture, followed by 1 cup marinara sauce. Repeat the process to create another layer, ensuring the top layer is marinara sauce.
  • Top with Cheese – Sprinkle the top layer with 1 cup shredded mozzarella and ½ cup grated parmesan.
  • Bake – Bake the lasagna in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
  • Cool & Serve – Once baked, remove the lasagna from the oven and let it cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

You can add a sprinkle of fresh basil on top of the lasagna after baking for extra flavor and freshness.
