Description

Orange Calabrian Chili Tuna Crudo is a fresh, vibrant dish featuring thinly sliced Ahi tuna topped with a zesty orange and Calabrian chili sauce, and delicate Vidalia onions. Perfect for a light appetizer or refreshing starter!


Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup shaved Vidalia onions

  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon grated orange zest

  • 2 tablespoons orange juice

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

  • 1/2 teaspoon Calabrian chilies

  • Kosher salt, as needed

  • 1 pound Ahi tuna, thinly sliced

 
  • Flaky sea salt, as needed


Instructions

  • Soak the onions:

    • Add the thinly shaved Vidalia onions to a small bowl of cold water and set aside.

  • Prepare the sauce:

    • In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the olive oil, orange zest, orange juice, lemon juice, and Calabrian chilies.

    • Season with salt to taste and set aside.

  • Assemble the dish:

    • Arrange the thin slices of tuna on a serving platter.

    • Drizzle the prepared sauce over the tuna.

 

  • Garnish and serve:

    • Drain the soaked onions and arrange them over the top of the tuna.

    • Garnish with flaky sea salt and serve immediately.


Notes

  • Calabrian chilies add a spicy kick, but you can adjust the amount according to your spice preference.

 

  • The dish is best served immediately to keep the freshness of the tuna.
