- 2 pounds ground beef (about 900 grams)
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (about 225 grams), divided
- 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce (about 360 milliliters), divided
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (about 50 grams)
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, or to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, eggs, 1 cup shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, 1/2 cup marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Lightly grease a 9 by 5 inch loaf pan or baking dish.
- Press the meat mixture evenly into the prepared pan, shaping it into a loaf.
- Bake for 40 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and spread the remaining 1 cup marinara sauce evenly over the top.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup shredded mozzarella over the sauce.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees Fahrenheit and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- Slice and serve warm.
