Description

A hearty and cheesy Pizza Meatloaf made with seasoned ground beef, rich marinara sauce, and plenty of melted mozzarella. This comforting oven-baked dinner delivers classic pizza flavors in a juicy, sliceable meatloaf that the whole family will love.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 pounds ground beef (about 900 grams)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (about 225 grams), divided
  • 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce (about 360 milliliters), divided
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (about 50 grams)
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, eggs, 1 cup shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, 1/2 cup marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Lightly grease a 9 by 5 inch loaf pan or baking dish.
  4. Press the meat mixture evenly into the prepared pan, shaping it into a loaf.
  5. Bake for 40 minutes.
  6. Remove from the oven and spread the remaining 1 cup marinara sauce evenly over the top.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup shredded mozzarella over the sauce.
  8. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees Fahrenheit and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  10. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the meat to keep the texture tender.
  • Allow the meatloaf to rest before slicing for clean cuts.
  • Use freshly shredded cheese for better melting and texture.
  • If excess fat accumulates during baking, carefully drain it before adding the final sauce and cheese topping.
