Description

Sticky, caramelized Miso and Honey Marinated Chicken Wings with a perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. These oven baked wings are glossy, tender inside, and packed with rich umami from miso, honey, garlic, and ginger.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds (900 g) chicken wings, separated at joints and patted dry
  • 3 tablespoons white miso paste
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 fresh garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, finely grated
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together white miso paste, honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, olive oil, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  3. Add chicken wings and toss thoroughly to coat.
  4. Marinate for at least 1 hour, or refrigerate overnight for deeper flavor.
  5. Arrange wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each piece.
  6. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, turning halfway through, until wings are cooked through and caramelized at the edges.
  7. For extra crispiness, broil for 2 to 3 minutes while watching carefully.
  8. Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes.
  9. Sprinkle with sliced green onions and serve warm.

Notes

  • Pat wings dry before marinating for better caramelization.
  • Do not overcrowd the baking sheet.
  • Marinating overnight enhances flavor.
  • Watch carefully during broiling to prevent burning.
