Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then blend in vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in semisweet chocolate chips and chopped maraschino cherries gently.
- Scoop tablespoon sized portions of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing evenly.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are lightly golden and centers are just set.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Pat the cherries very dry to prevent excess moisture in the dough.
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes for thicker cookies.
