- 4 hamburger rolls (whole wheat or your choice)
- 4 iceberg lettuce leaves
- 1 small red onion, sliced into rings
- 1 ripe tomato, sliced
- Sliced pickles
- Ketchup and mustard, optional
Instructions
- Prepare the grill: Set to medium heat. Clean and oil the grates.
-
Shape the patties:
- Fold each cheese slice into quarters, stacking them to make 4 short stacks.
- Divide ground turkey into 8 equal balls and flatten into ¼-inch thick patties.
-
Stuff the burgers:
- Place a cheese stack in the center of 4 patties.
- Top with the remaining 4 patties and pinch the edges to seal.
- Press the edges up slightly for even thickness.
- Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
-
Grill:
- Place patties on the oiled grill, cover, and cook for 6 minutes per side until cooked through.
- Assemble: Transfer burgers to buns, add lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. Let cool slightly before serving to avoid burning your mouth on the molten cheese.
