- 3/4 cup warm water
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour and salt.
- Add vegetable oil or melted lard and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add warm water, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Divide dough into 8–10 equal portions and roll each into a ball.
- Roll each ball into a thin circle, about 6–8 inches in diameter.
- Heat a dry skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each tortilla for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown spots appear.
- Keep cooked tortillas warm in a clean kitchen towel until ready to serve.
Notes
- Use warm water to help make the dough soft and pliable.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of garlic powder or herbs to the dough.
- Tortillas are best eaten fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for 2–3 days.
