- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons cold water
- 2 cups diced ham, fully cooked
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease a 9 inch shallow pie dish.
- In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add cold water gradually and mix until a dough forms. Do not overmix.
- Roll out two thirds of the dough on a floured surface and press into the prepared pie dish. Trim excess edges.
- In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, and black pepper until smooth.
- Stir diced ham and shredded mozzarella into the egg mixture.
- Pour filling into the prepared crust.
- Roll out remaining dough and place over the top. Seal edges and cut small vents.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until crust is golden brown and filling is set in the center.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 10 to 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Chill the dough for 20 minutes before rolling if your kitchen is warm.
- Brush the top crust lightly with milk for a deeper golden color.
- Allow the pie to rest before slicing to help the filling set properly.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
