Description

A vibrant, sweet and tart cranberry syrup made with fresh cranberries, sugar, water, and orange zest. Perfect for drizzling over pancakes, desserts, yogurt, or stirring into drinks for a burst of bold flavor.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries (about 200 grams)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (about 200 grams)
  • 1 cup water (240 milliliters)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh orange zest, finely grated

Instructions

  1. Place a medium saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add cranberries, sugar, water, and orange zest to the saucepan and stir gently to combine.
  3. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, allowing the cranberries to begin popping.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the syrup thickens slightly.
  5. Remove from heat and allow the syrup to cool. It will continue to thicken as it cools.
  6. Pour into a clean glass jar or bottle and refrigerate until ready to use.

Notes

  • For a smoother syrup, strain through a fine mesh strainer after cooking.
  • If the syrup becomes too thick, stir in a small splash of water while warming.
  • You can substitute frozen cranberries without thawing.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
