Description

These Greek chicken skewers are packed with bold Mediterranean flavors, marinated in a blend of garlic, oregano, harissa, and lemon. Paired with crispy feta fries tossed in fresh herbs and served with creamy tzatziki and garlic tahini, this dish is a crowd-pleaser. Perfect for a hearty dinner or summer grilling!

Ingredients

For the Chicken Skewers:

  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 shallot, chopped

  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped

  • 2 tsp dried oregano

  • 1 tsp chipotle chili powder

  • 1 tsp honey

  • 1-3 tbsp harissa sauce (or hot sauce)

  • 1 tbsp lemon zest

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • 1 1/2 lbs chicken breasts, cut into bite-size chunks

  • 1-2 cups tzatziki sauce

  • 1/2 cup garlic tahini (recipe in notes)

For the Feta Fries:

  • 4 russet potatoes, cut into 1/4-inch-thick matchsticks

  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

  • 1/2 cup mixed herbs (dill, basil, parsley)

  • 1 tsp lemon zest

  • 1 clove garlic, grated

  • 2 tbsp toasted sesame seeds

  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese

Instructions

  • Marinate the Chicken:

    • In a bowl, mix olive oil, shallots, garlic, oregano, chili powder, honey, harissa, lemon zest, salt, and pepper.

    • Add the chicken chunks and toss to coat. Let sit for at least 10 minutes for enhanced flavor.

  • Preheat the Oven:

    • Set the oven to 450°F (232°C).

  • Cook the Chicken:

    • Thread the marinated chicken onto skewers.

    • Arrange them on a baking sheet and bake for 20–25 minutes until lightly charred and fully cooked.

  • Prepare the Fries:

    • Toss the potatoes with olive oil, garlic powder, cayenne, and black pepper.

    • Spread them on a baking sheet and bake for 15–20 minutes. Flip and bake for another 15 minutes until crispy.

  • Finish the Fries:

    • In a bowl, combine mixed herbs, lemon zest, grated garlic, sesame seeds, and crumbled feta.

    • Toss the hot fries with the feta mixture directly on the baking sheet. Season with salt.

  • Serve:

    • Plate the chicken skewers with a side of crispy feta fries.

    • Serve with tzatziki and garlic tahini for dipping.

Notes

  • Grill Option: Instead of baking, grill the skewers over medium heat for 10–12 minutes, turning occasionally.

  • Potato Alternatives: Sweet potatoes can be used for a slightly sweeter version of the fries.

  • Serving Suggestions: Serve in pita wraps with fresh veggies or alongside a Greek salad for a complete meal.

  • Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat the fries in the oven for best texture.
