Description
Chicken Taquitos are crispy, golden rolled tortillas filled with shredded rotisserie chicken, melted cheese, and green chiles. Served with sour cream, guacamole, or salsa, they make a perfect appetizer or snack.

- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 5 cups shredded rotisserie chicken (from 2 chickens)
- 2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 2 (4 oz.) cans chopped green chiles, drained
- 20 (6-inch) soft flour tortillas
- 20 toothpicks
- Canola oil, for frying
- Sour cream, guacamole, and salsa, for serving
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine shredded chicken, cheese, green chiles, chili powder, salt, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Place about ¼ cup of the chicken mixture on each tortilla and roll tightly. Secure each taquito with a toothpick.
- Heat canola oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry taquitos in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2–3 minutes per side.
- Remove taquitos and drain on paper towels.
- Remove toothpicks before serving.
- Serve warm with sour cream, guacamole, and salsa.
Notes
- Do not overfill the tortillas to prevent them from breaking while rolling.
- You can bake taquitos at 400°F for 15–20 minutes for a healthier version.
- These taquitos can be made ahead and frozen; fry or bake directly from frozen.
