Description

These Cheesy Jalapeno Popper Puff Pastry Straws are the ultimate party snack! Packed with pickled jalapenos, crispy bacon, and a gooey trio of cheeses, these flaky twisted straws are easy to make and big on bold flavor. Whether you’re hosting a game day, brunch, or holiday party, these are sure to be a hit. With minimal prep and maximum crunch, this is one of those homemade recipes you’ll want to make again and again.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet ready-rolled puff pastry

  • 1/4 cup cream cheese

  • 1/2 cup pickled jalapenos, finely chopped

  • 4 slices bacon, chopped

  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, grated (divided)

  • 1/2 cup Gruyere cheese, grated (divided)

  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated (divided)

  • 1 egg, whisked

Instructions

  • Prep the Oven & Pastry:
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C fan) and line a large tray with parchment. Slightly roll out the puff pastry to expand its surface (optional).

  • Layer the Fillings:
Spread cream cheese evenly across the pastry. Cover the top half with chopped jalapenos, bacon, and half of each cheese.

  • Fold & Slice:
Fold the bare half of the pastry over the topped side. Press gently to seal. Mark and slice into ¾-inch strips.

  • Twist the Straws:
Twist each strip into a spiral and place onto the tray. Tuck in any cheese or filling that falls out.

  • Top with Cheese:
Brush the straws with egg wash. Sprinkle the remaining cheese all over the top.

  • Bake:
Bake for 20–25 minutes until deeply golden and crisp. Let cool for 5 minutes on the tray before serving.

Notes

  • Make Ahead: Assemble and chill the unbaked straws for up to 1 day before baking.

  • Serving Suggestion: Perfect with garlic aioli, sour cream, or ranch dip.

  • Cheese Swaps: Use mozzarella or pepper jack in place of Gruyere if desired.

  • Storage: Store cooled straws in an airtight container for 2–3 days. Reheat in a 350°F oven to re-crisp.
