Description

Soft golden brioche dough balls baked around a warm, melty camembert center and brushed with fragrant garlic butter. A cozy, tear and share appetizer that is rich, comforting, and perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 ounces brioche dough, divided into equal balls
  • 1 (8 ounce) camembert cheese wheel
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease a round baking dish with olive oil.
  2. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter and stir in the minced garlic and salt. Cook gently for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant, then remove from heat.
  3. Place the camembert wheel in the center of the prepared baking dish.
  4. Divide the brioche dough into small equal balls and arrange them evenly around the camembert, leaving slight space for rising.
  5. Brush the dough balls generously with the garlic butter mixture.
  6. Score a shallow cross on top of the camembert to help it open as it bakes.
  7. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the dough balls are golden brown and cooked through and the cheese is soft and melted inside.
  8. Remove from the oven, brush with any remaining garlic butter, and sprinkle chopped parsley over the top. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Let the camembert sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes before baking for even melting.
  • Keep dough balls similar in size to ensure even baking.
  • If the tops brown too quickly, cover loosely with foil.
  • Serve immediately for the best gooey texture.
