Description

Tender strips of cube steak simmered in a savory soy garlic ginger sauce, served over fluffy white rice with steamed broccoli and finished with green onions and sesame seeds for a bold, comforting meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1.5 pounds cube steak, sliced into thin strips
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 2 cups broccoli florets, lightly steamed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium high heat and add olive oil.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, brown sugar, cornstarch, rice vinegar, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  3. Add the sliced cube steak to the hot skillet in a single layer and sear for 2 to 3 minutes per side until browned.
  4. Pour the sauce mixture over the beef and stir gently to coat.
  5. Let the sauce simmer for 3 to 5 minutes until slightly thickened and the beef is cooked through.
  6. Stir in sesame oil at the end of cooking.
  7. Serve the beef and sauce over cooked white rice with steamed broccoli on the side.
  8. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • Slice the beef against the grain for maximum tenderness.
  • Cook the beef in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding the pan.
  • Add sesame oil at the end to preserve its aroma.
  • Taste the sauce before adding it to the skillet and adjust sweetness if desired.
