Description

Wholesome Cabbage Beef Bake is a comforting and hearty dish featuring seasoned ground beef, shredded cabbage, and tomatoes, all baked together with rice and topped with melted cheddar cheese for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 small head of cabbage, shredded
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 cup cooked white rice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the shredded cabbage to the skillet and cook for another 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage starts to soften.
  4. Stir in the diced tomatoes (with juices), cooked rice, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and beef broth. Mix well and bring to a simmer. Cook for an additional 5 minutes to allow the flavors to combine.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  6. Top the casserole with the shredded cheddar cheese.
  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
  • Feel free to use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef for a lighter version.
  • This dish can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for up to 2 days before baking.
