Description

Soft and buttery thumbprint cookies filled with vibrant red and yellow fruit jam, lightly dusted with powdered sugar for a cheerful and nostalgic treat.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup red fruit jam
  • 1/3 cup yellow fruit jam
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  4. Gradually mix in the flour and salt until a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll the dough into 1 inch balls and place them slightly apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Gently press your thumb into the center of each ball to create an indentation.
  7. Fill each indentation with about 1/2 teaspoon of red or yellow fruit jam.
  8. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes until the edges are lightly golden and the centers remain soft.
  9. Allow cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
  10. Lightly dust with powdered sugar before serving.
