Description

Thick, chewy blondies loaded with chopped candy bars and rich brown-sugar flavor.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour, spooned & leveled
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 14 Tablespoons (196g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 1/4 cups (250g) packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk, at room temperature
  • 1 Tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups (about 225g) chopped chocolate candy bars
  • Optional: flaky sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Line an 8×8-inch or 9×9-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the melted butter and brown sugar until smooth. Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla, mixing until fully combined.
  4. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Fold in the chopped candy bars.
  6. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 28–35 minutes, or until the blondies are set and lightly golden at the edges.
  8. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired, then cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • Any mix of chocolate candy bars works well—use your favorites.
  • For cleaner slices, chill the baked blondies for 20–30 minutes before cutting.
  • Do not overbake; blondies continue to set as they cool.
