Description

A dramatically dark and mysteriously smooth cocktail that lives up to its devilish name. This striking black cocktail combines rich coffee liqueur with dark spirits and a hint of spice to create an intriguingly complex drink with a sinister appearance.


Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1.5 oz black vodka
  • 1 oz coffee liqueur
  • 1/2 oz creme de cassis
  • 1/2 oz blackberry liqueur
  • 2 dashes chocolate bitters
  • 1/4 oz cinnamon syrup
  • Ice cubes

For garnish:

    • Black sugar rim
    • Blackberries
    • Red chili thread
    • Edible black glitter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix black sugar on a small plate with a pinch of edible black glitter if using.
  2. Rim a chilled coupe glass with the black sugar mixture.
  3. Fill a mixing glass with ice cubes.
  4. Add black vodka, coffee liqueur, creme de cassis, blackberry liqueur, chocolate bitters, and cinnamon syrup.
  5. Stir gently for 30 seconds until well chilled.
  6. Strain into the prepared coupe glass.
  7. Garnish with skewered blackberries and a red chili thread.
  8. Optional: Dust with additional edible black glitter for shimmer.

Notes

  • For the darkest effect, use black vodka or activated charcoal-infused vodka
  • Can be served on the rocks in a rocks glass
  • For extra spice, add a small slice of fresh chile
  • Activated charcoal should not be consumed with medications
  • Non-alcoholic version: Use cold brew coffee, blackberry syrup, and pomegranate juice
  • The black sugar rim can be made ahead
