Description

Juicy chicken meatballs stuffed with melty Swiss cheese and savory ham, inspired by the classic cordon bleu flavors, baked until golden and perfectly tender.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 4 ounces Swiss cheese, cut into small cubes
  • 1/2 cup diced ham
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit or heat a skillet over medium heat if cooking on the stovetop.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, diced ham, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Lightly grease a baking sheet or melt butter in a skillet.
  4. Scoop about 2 tablespoons of the mixture and flatten slightly. Place a cube of Swiss cheese in the center and carefully seal the meat around it to form a ball. Repeat with remaining mixture.
  5. Place meatballs on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 18 to 22 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked, or cook in the skillet turning occasionally until evenly browned and cooked through.
  6. Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  7. Serve warm and enjoy the melted cheese center.

Notes

  • Chill the cheese cubes before stuffing to help prevent leaking.
  • Do not overmix the meat to keep the texture tender.
  • Ensure internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Reheat leftovers gently in the oven to maintain texture.
