Description

This Chinese Yam and Beef Stir-Fry is a flavorful, protein-rich dish that combines tender beef with nutritious Chinese yam, garlic, and a savory sauce. It’s an easy and healthy dinner perfect for serving with rice.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced

  • 1 lb Chinese yam, peeled and sliced into thin strips

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1 tsp cornstarch

  • 1/2 tsp sugar

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

 
  • 2 tbsp chopped green onions (for garnish)


Instructions

  • Marinate the Beef:

    • In a bowl, mix beef, soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, sugar, and black pepper.

    • Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.

  • Blanch the Yam:

    • Bring a pot of water to a boil.

    • Add yam slices and blanch for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.

    • Drain and set aside.

  • Stir-Fry:

    • Heat vegetable oil in a wok or skillet over high heat.

    • Add garlic and stir-fry for a few seconds until fragrant.

    • Add marinated beef and stir-fry until browned and cooked through.

    • Add blanched yam and stir-fry for 2-3 more minutes, stirring frequently.

 

  • Serve & Enjoy:

    • Garnish with green onions.

    • Serve hot with steamed rice.


Notes

  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

  • Reheat: Reheat in a skillet over medium heat for best texture.

 

  • Extra Flavor: Add sesame oil or a dash of soy sauce when serving.
