- 4-6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
- Salt, garlic powder, black pepper, 1 tsp each
- 2 tsp Knorr chicken bouillon powder
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 1/2 tbsp jarlic garlic with chilies in oil
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Kosher salt and black pepper to taste
- Sesame seeds & chopped cilantro or scallions for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) or prepare a skillet over medium heat.
- Season chicken thighs with salt, garlic powder, black pepper, and Knorr chicken bouillon powder.
- In a small bowl, mix ketchup, honey, soy sauce, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, ground ginger, jarlic, sesame oil, and optional red pepper flakes to make the sticky sauce.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Sear chicken thighs skin-side down for 5–7 minutes until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 5 minutes.
- Pour sauce over chicken, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15–20 minutes until chicken is cooked through and the sauce is thickened.
- Alternatively, bake chicken in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 25–30 minutes, basting with sauce halfway through.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped cilantro or scallions before serving.
Notes
- Jarlic with chilies adds a unique flavor and mild heat; regular minced garlic can be substituted.
- Serve with steamed rice or noodles to soak up the sticky sauce.
- Adjust honey and soy sauce for preferred sweetness and saltiness.
- Chicken can be marinated in sauce for 1 hour before cooking for extra flavor.
