Description

Tacos de Bistec (Steak Tacos) are a flavorful, high-protein Mexican dish featuring tender, marinated steak, grilled to perfection and served in soft corn tortillas. These tacos are the perfect combination of juicy beef, fresh toppings, and savory flavors, making them ideal for any taco night.

For the Steak Marinade

  • 1 lb (450g) flank steak or skirt steak
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the Tacos

  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges
  • Salsa or hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, lime juice, garlic, cumin, paprika, chili powder, black pepper, and salt.
  • Place the steak in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish, and pour the marinade over the steak. Seal and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, preferably for 2 hours.
  • Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, remove the steak from the marinade and cook for 3-5 minutes per side for medium-rare to medium doneness, or longer for your desired level of doneness.
  • Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.
  • Warm the corn tortillas on the grill or in a dry skillet for about 30 seconds per side.
  • To assemble, place a few slices of steak on each tortilla and top with chopped onions, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime juice. Add salsa or hot sauce if desired.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious Tacos de Bistec!

Notes

  • If you prefer, you can substitute the corn tortillas with flour tortillas.
  • You can add toppings like guacamole, sour cream, or cheese to customize the tacos to your liking.
