- Oat Base:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup salted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 3 cups old-fashioned oats
- Fudge:
- 1 can (300 mL) sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup salted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together granulated sugar, brown sugar, and softened butter until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- In a separate bowl, combine all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, and baking soda. Gradually add to the butter mixture and mix until combined.
- Stir in the oats until evenly distributed.
- Press the oat mixture firmly into the prepared baking pan to form an even base.
- In a saucepan over low heat, combine sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, and butter. Stir until melted and smooth.
- Pour the fudge over the oat base and spread evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden and fudge is set.
- Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
Notes
- Use high-quality chocolate chips for a richer fudge layer.
- Press the oat base firmly to ensure bars hold together.
- These bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or refrigerated for longer shelf life.
