Description

Get all the delicious flavors of dumplings in a crispy, stuffed flatbread! Juicy, seasoned ground meat (or plant-based alternative) is packed into flatbreads and pan-fried to perfection. Serve with dumpling dipping sauce, chili oil, or sweet chili jam for an irresistible meal.


Ingredients

  • 3 scallions (spring onions), finely chopped

  • Handful of cilantro (coriander) leaves, chopped

  • 1 lb (500g) ground chicken (or pork, turkey, beef, or plant-based alternative)

  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed

  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated (or 2 tsp ginger paste)

  • 2 tbsp light soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 2 tsp fish sauce

  • 1 tbsp black vinegar (or rice vinegar)

  • 6 to 8 flatbreads (depending on size)

  • Olive oil, for frying

  • Dumpling dipping sauce, for serving

  • Chili oil, for serving

Instructions

  • Make the Filling:

    • In a mixing bowl, combine ground meat, scallions, cilantro, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, fish sauce, and black vinegar. Mix well.

    • Pro Tip: Cook a small portion in a pan to taste-test seasoning.

  • Prepare the Flatbreads:

    • Slice flatbreads in half. Carefully open each half into a pocket without cutting through.

  • Stuff the Flatbreads:

    • Spoon a couple of heaped tablespoons of filling into each pocket. Smooth evenly inside, keeping it about 1 inch thick.

  • Cook the Flatbreads:

    • Heat a non-stick pan over medium-high heat with a drizzle of olive oil.

    • Place stuffed flatbreads in the pan and cook for 4 minutes per side, until golden and crispy.

    • Sear the edge of each flatbread for 1 minute, then remove. Repeat with remaining flatbreads.

  • Serve:

    • Arrange flatbreads on a plate. Garnish with more cilantro and sesame seeds.

    • Serve hot with dipping sauce, chili oil, or sweet chili jam.

  • Air Fryer Option: Cook at 375ยฐF (190ยฐC) for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway.
