Scale
- 6 medium apples (Granny Smith, Gala, or Fuji are ideal)
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Food coloring in multiple colors (red, blue, green, pink)
- Edible glitter or luster dust for extra sparkle
Instructions
- Prepare the Apples: Wash and thoroughly dry the apples. Insert a wooden stick into each apple’s stem end.
- Cook the Candy Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water over medium heat. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves.
- Heat the Syrup: Attach a candy thermometer to the pan and bring the mixture to a boil without stirring. Let it reach 300°F (hard-crack stage).
- Color the Syrup: Remove from heat and add a few drops of food coloring in different colors. Swirl gently for an even color. Add vanilla extract if desired.
- Dip the Apples: Carefully dip each apple in the syrup, rotating it for a complete coat. Let the excess drip off.
- Add Sparkle: Place each apple on a parchment-lined tray. While the coating is still sticky, quickly sprinkle with edible glitter or luster dust for extra sparkle.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the apples to cool and harden for 10–15 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the apples are completely dry before dipping to help the candy coating stick properly.
- You can experiment with different colors to create a rainbow effect.
- The apples will stay fresh for about 1-2 days at room temperature.
