Description

Sloppy Joe Crescent Bake is a fun and easy twist on the classic sloppy joe! This casserole layers buttery crescent dough, cheesy goodness, and saucy ground beef for a comforting, crowd-pleasing dish. Perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 (8-oz) cans crescent dough sheets
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6 slices American cheese
  • 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 lb ground beef
  • 1 (8-oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 4 tsp yellow mustard
  • 4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 4 tsp brown sugar
  • 4 tsp chili powder
  • 4 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 Tbsp hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375ยบF and spray a 9ร—13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain fat and return meat to skillet.
  3. Add tomato sauce, barbecue sauce, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, chili powder, onion powder, and garlic powder. Stir well and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Whisk together cornstarch and hot water in a small bowl. Add to skillet and cook for 1โ€“2 minutes until sauce thickens. Remove from heat.
  5. Press one can of crescent dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
  7. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture evenly over the cheese.
  8. Place American cheese slices on top of the beef mixture.
  9. Cover with the remaining can of crescent dough sheets.
  10. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the top dough layer.
  11. Bake for 20โ€“25 minutes, or until the crescent top is golden brown.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, brush the top dough with melted butter before baking.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • Let the bake rest for 5โ€“10 minutes before slicing to help it set.
