Description

Sirloin Tips and Mushrooms is a savory dish where tender beef sirloin cubes are simmered with earthy mushrooms in a rich tomato sauce and red wine, creating a flavorful and hearty meal. This dish is perfect served over mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 pounds beef sirloin steak, cut into cubes
  • 1 (16 ounce) can mushrooms, with liquid
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 3/4 cup red wine, or more to taste
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Add the cubed sirloin steak to the skillet, seasoning with salt and pepper. Cook for 5-7 minutes, browning the beef on all sides.
  3. Stir in the mushrooms, including their liquid, and tomato sauce. Pour in the red wine and stir to combine. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened and the beef is tender.
  5. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste, and serve hot with your preferred side dish.

Notes

  • If you prefer a richer flavor, you can add additional red wine or a splash of beef broth.
  • This dish pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes, rice, or crusty bread to soak up the flavorful sauce.
