Scale
- 1 lb sausage (hot or mild)
- 2 (8 oz) cans refrigerated crescent rolls
- 1 1/2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 egg + 1 tbsp water (for egg wash, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and crumbled. Drain on paper towels and let cool.
- In a bowl, mix the cooled sausage with shredded cheese. Set aside.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone liner. Place a 5-inch inverted bowl in the center.
- Open crescent roll cans and separate into 16 triangles. Arrange them in a circle around the bowl, overlapping the wide ends and pointing the tips outward, forming a sun shape.
- Remove the bowl. Spoon the sausage-cheese mixture around the center of the ring.
- Fold each crescent tip over the filling and tuck it under to seal.
- Brush with egg wash if desired, then bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Try Italian sausage for a flavorful twist.
- Substitute Monterey Jack with mozzarella or cheddar.
- Leftovers can be stored in the fridge and reheated at 350°F for about 10 minutes.
- Get creative with variations—swap sausage for taco meat, ham and Swiss, or other fillings!
