Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup chocolate chunks
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners or grease it lightly.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chunks.
  • Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
  • Using a teaspoon, drop a small amount of caramel sauce into the center of each muffin.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Remove from the oven and allow the muffins to cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Once cooled, drizzle additional caramel sauce over the top and sprinkle with flaky sea salt before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer caramel flavor, consider using dulce de leche instead of regular caramel sauce.
  • Ensure the muffins are completely cooled before drizzling with caramel to prevent it from melting into the muffins.
  • These muffins are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
