Description

Philly Cheesesteak Bell Pepper Bites are a low-carb twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak, with tender beef, sautéed onions, and mushrooms all nestled in sweet bell pepper halves and topped with melty provolone cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large green bell peppers, halved lengthwise and seeded
  • 1 (14 oz) package thinly sliced frozen Philly beef steak
  • 1 large sweet onion, diced
  • 1 (6 oz) package sliced baby bella mushrooms, diced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Montreal steak seasoning (or to taste)
  • 6 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place the bell pepper halves on a baking sheet, cut side up, and bake for 10–15 minutes, or until slightly softened.
  3. While the peppers bake, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes, or until softened and browned.
  4. Add the garlic and sliced Philly beef steak to the skillet. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the beef is heated through and cooked to your liking.
  5. Season the beef and vegetable mixture with Montreal steak seasoning and stir to combine.
  6. Remove the bell peppers from the oven. Evenly distribute the Philly beef mixture into each bell pepper half.
  7. Top each filled bell pepper half with a slice of provolone cheese.
  8. Return the peppers to the oven and bake for 5–7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use other cheeses like mozzarella or cheddar if you prefer a different flavor.
  • For extra heat, sprinkle some crushed red pepper flakes or jalapeños on top before baking.
  • These make a great appetizer or low-carb meal option.
