Description

Oven-Baked Cheesy Tacos are an easy, crowd-pleasing dinner packed with seasoned ground meat, melty cheese, and fresh toppings. Perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey/chicken)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade mix)
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce or salsa
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 10 small taco shells (flour or corn, slightly warmed)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or Mexican blend)
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup red onion, diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Optional Toppings: Sour cream, Jalapeños, Guacamole, Hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté diced onion and minced garlic until soft and fragrant.
  3. Add ground meat and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  4. Stir in taco seasoning and tomato sauce or salsa. Cook for 2–3 minutes until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Arrange taco shells on a baking sheet. Fill each shell with the cooked meat mixture.
  6. Top each taco with shredded cheese and bake in the oven for 5–7 minutes, or until cheese is melted.
  7. Remove from oven and add fresh toppings: lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, and cilantro.
  8. Add optional toppings like sour cream, jalapeños, guacamole, or hot sauce as desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef.
  • Customize the toppings according to your preference for a fun taco bar.
  • Warm taco shells slightly before assembling to prevent cracking.
