Description

These Oven-Baked Bagels with Egg, Prosciutto & Cheddar are a hearty and savory breakfast or brunch treat. Layers of melted cheddar, salty prosciutto, flavorful salami, and perfectly cooked eggs make each bite rich and satisfying, with a hint of garlic and herbs for extra flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 bagels
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices of prosciutto
  • 4 slices Italian salami
  • 1 1/2 tbsp salted butter
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp chili paprika
  • A few sprigs of fresh parsley
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Set the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare bagels: Slice the bagels in half and lightly toast them in the oven or a toaster.
  3. Cook garlic butter: In a small pan, melt butter and sauté minced garlic until fragrant. Brush garlic butter over the cut sides of the bagels.
  4. Assemble: On each bagel half, layer cheddar cheese, prosciutto, and salami. Crack an egg on top of each bagel half, being careful not to let it overflow.
  5. Season: Sprinkle dried oregano, chili paprika, and a pinch of salt over the eggs.
  6. Bake: Place assembled bagels on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the egg whites are set and yolks reach desired doneness.
  7. Garnish and serve: Remove from oven and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a creamier yolk, bake for a shorter time and cover loosely with foil.
  • Swap cheddar with mozzarella or Gruyère for a different flavor profile.
  • These bagels are great for brunch gatherings and can be prepared ahead by assembling and baking just before serving.
