Description

This Orange Beef Stir Fry is a deliciously quick and easy dinner that combines tender strips of sirloin steak with crisp green beans, all tossed in a tangy citrusy sauce. Ready in just 25 minutes, itโ€™s the perfect weeknight meal for those craving vibrant flavors and hearty ingredients.

Ingredients

  • Zest from a small orange

  • 1/2 cup orange juice

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar

  • 2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce

  • 2 teaspoons chili garlic sauce

  • 2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger

  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch

  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil

  • 3/4 pound fresh green beans, ends cut, trimmed into 2-inch pieces

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 1/2 pounds sirloin, sliced very thin across the grain and then into 2-inch wide pieces

  • 2 scallions, diced

ย

  • Cooked white rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the orange zest, orange juice, brown sugar, rice vinegar, soy sauce, chili garlic sauce, ginger, and cornstarch.

  2. Heat sesame oil over medium-high in a large nonstick skillet. Add the green beans and sautรฉ for about 4 minutes, until they are charred and crisp-tender. Remove the green beans with a slotted spoon and transfer them to a large bowl.

  3. Ensure the skillet is still hot. Pat the sirloin dry with paper towels, season with salt and pepper, and add to the skillet. Spread the pieces out in a single layer and let them cook without stirring for 1 minute. Afterward, give it a toss and transfer the beef to the bowl with the green beans.

  4. Give the orange juice mixture a quick stir to reincorporate the ingredients, then add it to the skillet. Scrape up any brown bits from the pan and cook until the sauce thickens, about 2 minutes.

  5. Add the cooked sirloin and green beans back into the skillet along with any accumulated juices and the diced scallions. Toss everything to coat evenly.

  6. Serve the stir fry over cooked rice and enjoy!

Notes

  • If you prefer a spicier version, increase the amount of chili garlic sauce.

ย

  • For added crunch, sprinkle some toasted sesame seeds on top before serving.
