Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup white wine
  • 2/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup mini capers
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1/4 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 lb white fish fillets (plaice, cod, or similar)
  • 1/2 lb broccoli, cut into florets, stem peeled and chopped

Optional (to serve):

  • 2 servings of rice

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 200ยฐC (390ยฐF).
  • Melt butter in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add white wine and bring to a boil, then simmer for 2 minutes.
  • Stir in the heavy cream and continue simmering for another 2 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, mix lemon juice with a few tablespoons of the cream sauce, then pour it back into the pan. Simmer for 1 more minute.
  • Remove the pan from heat, add the capers, and taste test. Season with salt if needed.
  • Place the fish fillets in the pan, then layer the broccoli on top. Spoon some sauce over the fish and broccoli.
  • Bake in the middle of the oven for 10-15 minutes. Thin fillets like plaice need 10 minutes, while thicker fillets like cod may need 15 minutes.
  • Serve on its own or with a side of rice. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Substitute white wine with vegetable or chicken broth if needed.
  • Swap heavy cream for half-and-half for a lighter version.
  • Add garlic or shallots for extra flavor.
