Description

A coastal inspired noodle dish loaded with tender mussels and sweet crayfish, tossed in garlic infused olive oil and finished with fresh parsley and lemon. Elegant, flavorful, and surprisingly simple to prepare.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 400 grams dried noodles
  • 1 kilogram fresh mussels, cleaned and debearded
  • 500 grams whole raw crayfish, cleaned
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 whole lemon, cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Add the dried noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  3. While the noodles cook, heat olive oil in a wide skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Add cleaned mussels and crayfish to the skillet. Cover and cook for 5 to 7 minutes until the mussels open and the crayfish turn bright and opaque.
  6. Discard any mussels that remain closed after cooking.
  7. Drain the noodles, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water.
  8. Add the noodles to the skillet with the seafood and toss gently to combine. Add a splash of reserved pasta water if needed to loosen the sauce.
  9. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  10. Stir in chopped parsley and squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top before serving.

Notes

  • Clean mussels thoroughly and discard any that are cracked or remain open before cooking.
  • Do not overcook seafood to avoid a rubbery texture.
  • Reserve pasta water to help create a silky sauce.
  • Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.
