Description

These chocolate nut bars are incredibly easy to makeโ€”no mixing bowl required! Everything is layered and baked straight in the pan, making them the ultimate quick-fix treat. With a caramel-like chewiness, chocolate richness, and a nutty crunch, theyโ€™re like a caramel slice but with peanutsโ€”and much faster to make!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 100g (7 tbsp) unsalted butter, cut into chunks
  • 1 cup (100g) plain biscuits, crushed (Marie, Arrowroot, Digestives, or Graham crackers)
  • 1 cup desiccated coconut (unsweetened)
  • 1 cup unsalted peanuts, or other nuts of choice
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips (semi-sweet for US)
  • 395g (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk (1 can)

Instructions

1. Preheat & Prepare Pan:

  • Preheat oven to 180ยฐC (350ยฐF) (or 160ยฐC fan-forced).
  • Lightly spray a 20cm (8-inch) square baking pan with oil.
  • Press in a sheet of parchment paper, leaving overhang for easy removal.

2. Melt Butter:

  • Place butter in the pan and let it melt in the oven for 5 minutes.
  • Swirl the pan to spread the melted butter evenly.

3. Layer the Ingredients:

  • Sprinkle crushed biscuits over the butter and gently press down.
  • Scatter coconut evenly.
  • Add โ…” of the peanuts and โ…” of the chocolate chips, reserving some for the top.
  • Pour over sweetened condensed milk, spreading gently for even coverage.
  • Top with the remaining nuts and chocolate chips.

4. Bake:

  • Bake for 30 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown.

5. Cool & Serve:

  • Let the bars cool completely before cutting (3 hours at room temperature or 1 hour on the counter + 1 hour in the fridge).
  • Use the parchment paper overhang to lift the bars out, slice into 16 squares, and enjoy!

Notes

  • Biscuit Base: Use any plain biscuit like Marie, Arrowroot, Digestives, or Graham crackers.
  • Nut Options: Swap peanuts for almonds, cashews, or walnuts.
  • Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 5 days or in the fridge for up to 10 days.
