- 1 pound fresh or frozen shrimp, uncooked
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup minced onion
- 1/4 cup minced celery
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- Salt and fresh cracked black pepper, to taste
- 4 hot dog buns, top split style
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- Garnish: paprika or Old Bay seasoning, snipped chives
Instructions
- Cook the shrimp: Boil or steam shrimp until pink and opaque, about 2–3 minutes. Drain, cool slightly, and chop into bite-sized pieces.
- Prepare the shrimp filling: In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, minced onion, minced celery, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Fold in the chopped shrimp until well coated.
- Prepare the buns: Brush the cut sides of the buns with melted butter. Toast in a skillet or oven until lightly golden.
- Assemble the rolls: Spoon the shrimp mixture into each bun. Sprinkle with paprika or Old Bay seasoning and garnish with snipped chives.
- Serve immediately while the buns are warm and the shrimp filling is fresh.
Notes
- For extra flavor, chill the shrimp mixture for 15–30 minutes before assembling.
- Old Bay seasoning adds authentic New England taste, but paprika works well too.
- These rolls are best served the same day for freshness.
