- 2 tablespoons salted butter
- 300 grams puff pastry (store bought)
- 200 grams mushrooms, finely chopped
- 1 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon garlic, crushed
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 egg
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, sauté until translucent.
- Add mushrooms, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until mushrooms release moisture and mixture is slightly dry. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Roll out puff pastry and cut into desired shapes or squares.
- Place a spoonful of the mushroom mixture in the center of each pastry piece.
- Fold the pastry over the filling and seal edges. Brush with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until golden and puffed.
- Serve warm as an appetizer or snack.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of thyme or parsley to the mushroom filling.
- Make ahead: You can assemble the puffs and refrigerate for a few hours before baking.
- These puffs freeze well; bake directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.
