Description

These Mushroom Puffs are flaky, buttery, and packed with a savory mushroom and onion filling. Perfect as an appetizer or snack, they combine crisp puff pastry with aromatic spices for a delightful bite every time.


Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons salted butter
  • 300 grams puff pastry (store bought)
  • 200 grams mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 1 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, sauté until translucent.
  3. Add mushrooms, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Cook until mushrooms release moisture and mixture is slightly dry. Remove from heat and let cool.
  4. Roll out puff pastry and cut into desired shapes or squares.
  5. Place a spoonful of the mushroom mixture in the center of each pastry piece.
  6. Fold the pastry over the filling and seal edges. Brush with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  7. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until golden and puffed.
  8. Serve warm as an appetizer or snack.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a sprinkle of thyme or parsley to the mushroom filling.
  • Make ahead: You can assemble the puffs and refrigerate for a few hours before baking.
  • These puffs freeze well; bake directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.
