Description

This hearty and comforting Old-Fashioned Momma’s Meatloaf is a classic family favorite. Packed with flavors from ground beef, pork, fresh vegetables, and a touch of Worcestershire and Dijon, it’s the perfect dish for a nostalgic homemade meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, ground pork, bread crumbs, milk, onion, bell pepper, garlic, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, oregano, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  • Shape the Meatloaf: Transfer the mixture to a 9×5-inch loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on a baking sheet.
  • Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 1 hour, or until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center reads 160°F (71°C).
  • Rest and Serve: Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Add vegetables: Include sautéed mushrooms, grated carrots, or zucchini for extra flavor and nutrition.
  • Spice it up: Add red pepper flakes or a splash of hot sauce to the mixture for a spicy kick.
  • Glaze option: Brush the top of the meatloaf with extra ketchup during the last 15 minutes of baking for a tangy glaze.
  • Cheesy upgrade: Top with shredded cheddar cheese before baking for a melty topping.
  • Pair it well: Serve with classic sides like mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a fresh green salad.
