Description

A bold and cheesy Mexican chopped cheese sandwich loaded with seasoned ground beef, melted mozzarella and cheddar, and topped with fresh pico de gallo inside a warm toasted hoagie roll.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 4 mozzarella cheese slices
  • 4 cheddar cheese slices
  • 1 large tomato, diced
  • 1 small white onion, finely diced
  • 1 to 2 jalapeño peppers, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil, about 15 milliliters
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add olive oil.
  2. Add the ground beef and season with salt, black pepper, and chili powder.
  3. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes, breaking and chopping the beef finely until browned and cooked through.
  4. Divide the beef into four portions directly in the skillet.
  5. Place one slice of mozzarella and one slice of cheddar over each portion and allow the cheese to melt completely.
  6. Lightly toast the hoagie rolls until golden and slightly crisp.
  7. In a bowl, combine diced tomato, white onion, jalapeño, and chopped cilantro to prepare fresh pico de gallo.
  8. Scoop the cheesy chopped beef into the toasted rolls and top generously with pico de gallo before serving.

Notes

  • Chop the beef finely while cooking for authentic texture.
  • Add pico de gallo just before serving to keep the sandwich fresh and crisp.
  • Toast the rolls lightly to prevent sogginess.
