Description

These Maple Chipotle Chicken Wings are the perfect combination of sweet, smoky, and spicy! Coated in a rich maple chipotle sauce, these wings are fried to crispy perfection and packed with flavor. Whether for a game day snack or a weekend treat, these wings are sure to impress!


Ingredients

For the Maple Chipotle Sauce:

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped

  • 1/2 cup maple syrup

  • 2 chipotles in adobo, plus 1 tablespoon adobo sauce

  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste

  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

For the Wings:

  • 3 pounds chicken wings, tips removed, drumettes and flats separated

  • 1/4 cup cornstarch

  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

  • Vegetable oil, for frying, as needed


Instructions

  • Prepare the Maple Chipotle Sauce:

    • Heat a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the vegetable oil and sautรฉ the garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.

    • Stir in the maple syrup, chipotles, adobo sauce, tomato paste, vinegar, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard.

    • Simmer the sauce until it thickens and comes together, about 10 minutes.

    • Remove from heat, let it cool slightly, then blend until smooth. Set aside or refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 1 week.

  • Prepare the Wings:

    • Preheat oven to 250ยบF (130ยบC). Allow the wings to stand at room temperature for 30 minutes before frying.

    • In a large pot, heat vegetable oil to 375ยบF (190ยบC), ensuring thereโ€™s enough oil to reach 2 inches up the side of the pot.

    • Toss the wings in cornstarch, and season with salt and pepper.

    • Fry the wings in batches for about 10 minutes, turning occasionally until the chicken is fully cooked and golden brown.

    • Drain the wings on a wire rack set over a baking sheet and place in the oven to keep warm. Repeat with the remaining wings.

  • Toss the Wings in Sauce:

    • Transfer the fried wings to a large mixing bowl and toss with the maple chipotle sauce until evenly coated.

    • Serve immediately on a platter and enjoy!


Notes

  • For extra heat, add more chipotle peppers to the sauce.

  • Serve with your favorite dipping sauce or a side of cooling ranch.
