- 1/2 pound ground turkey
- 1 cup lasagna tomato sauce (recipe below)
- 1 cup low-fat cottage cheese, ricotta, or cream cheese
- 1 cup partially skim mozzarella, shredded
Instructions
- Cook the ground turkey in a skillet over medium heat. Add the lasagna tomato sauce and simmer for about 3-5 minutes, until it thickens slightly.
- Spread the cottage cheese (or ricotta/cream cheese) evenly over the bottom of a baking dish.
- Top with the turkey sauce mixture and then sprinkle the mozzarella on top.
- Bake in a preheated 350ยฐF (180ยฐC) oven until the top is golden brown and the sides are bubbling, about 15-20 minutes.
- Slow Cooker:
- Implement step 1.
- Layer the cottage cheese, turkey sauce, and mozzarella in the slow cooker as you would in the baking dish.
- Cook on high for 1-2 hours or on low for 2-4 hours until the cheese is melted.
Notes
- Option: Use ground beef or Italian sausage instead of turkey, or omit the meat for a vegetarian version.
- Option: Swap the lasagna sauce for your favorite marinara sauce if preferred.
