- 1 pound frozen bread dough, thawed
- 1 pound hot Italian sausage
- Olive oil, for cooking
- 2 boxes frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder with parsley
- 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 medium plum tomatoes, optional, sliced
- 1 package sliced provolone cheese
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Basil and additional grated Parmesan, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet or pizza pan.
- Cook Italian sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned and fully cooked. Remove excess fat and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add a little olive oil and sauté thawed and drained spinach with onion powder, salt, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and black pepper for 3–5 minutes until heated through.
- Roll out the thawed bread dough to fit your pan and transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
- Layer cooked sausage over the dough, followed by the sautéed spinach mixture.
- Top with sliced provolone, shredded mozzarella, and grated Parmesan. Add sliced tomatoes if using.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and crust is golden brown.
- Garnish with fresh basil and additional grated Parmesan before serving.
Notes
- Drain spinach well to avoid a soggy crust.
- Feel free to adjust the amount of cheese to your preference.
- For a crispier crust, pre-bake the dough for 5 minutes before adding toppings.
