Description

Italian Spinach Pizza is a hearty, flavorful pizza made with Italian sausage, spinach, and a blend of provolone, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses on a golden bread dough crust, perfect for a family meal or gathering.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound frozen bread dough, thawed
  • 1 pound hot Italian sausage
  • Olive oil, for cooking
  • 2 boxes frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder with parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 medium plum tomatoes, optional, sliced
  • 1 package sliced provolone cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Basil and additional grated Parmesan, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet or pizza pan.
  2. Cook Italian sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned and fully cooked. Remove excess fat and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add a little olive oil and sauté thawed and drained spinach with onion powder, salt, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and black pepper for 3–5 minutes until heated through.
  4. Roll out the thawed bread dough to fit your pan and transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Layer cooked sausage over the dough, followed by the sautéed spinach mixture.
  6. Top with sliced provolone, shredded mozzarella, and grated Parmesan. Add sliced tomatoes if using.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and crust is golden brown.
  8. Garnish with fresh basil and additional grated Parmesan before serving.

Notes

  • Drain spinach well to avoid a soggy crust.
  • Feel free to adjust the amount of cheese to your preference.
  • For a crispier crust, pre-bake the dough for 5 minutes before adding toppings.
