Description

Instant Pot Mashed Sweet Potatoes are creamy, sweet, and perfectly spiced with cinnamon. Made quickly in the Instant Pot, these mashed sweet potatoes are a comforting side dish ideal for holidays or weeknight dinners.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • 4 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into large cubes
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Pour 3 cups of water into the Instant Pot and place the trivet inside.
  2. Add the cubed sweet potatoes on top of the trivet.
  3. Close the lid and set the valve to sealing. Cook on high pressure for 10 minutes.
  4. Quick release the pressure carefully once cooking is complete.
  5. Drain the sweet potatoes and transfer them to a large mixing bowl.
  6. Add heavy cream, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, and salt. Mash until smooth and creamy.
  7. Adjust sweetness or seasoning to taste. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with milk or a non-dairy alternative.
  • Use a potato masher or electric mixer depending on your preferred texture.
