Description

Instant Pot Apple Cake is a moist and flavorful cake loaded with tender apples and warm cinnamon, cooked quickly in the Instant Pot. Perfectly spiced and lightly sweetened, it’s ideal for a cozy dessert or afternoon treat.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Apples

  • 2 1/2 cups apples, cored, peeled, and diced
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

Cake

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature

Other

  • 1 cup water (for the Instant Pot)
  • Powdered sugar, for decorating

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine diced apples, ground cinnamon, and granulated sugar. Set aside.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and sea salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together vegetable oil, sugar, orange juice, vanilla extract, and eggs until smooth.
  4. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until combined.
  5. Gently fold in the apple mixture.
  6. Grease an Instant Pot-safe cake pan and pour the batter into the pan.
  7. Add 1 cup water to the inner pot of the Instant Pot. Place a trivet inside and carefully set the cake pan on top of the trivet.
  8. Close the lid, set to sealing, and cook on high pressure for 35 minutes.
  9. Allow a natural pressure release for 10 minutes, then release any remaining pressure and remove the cake.
  10. Let the cake cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for the best texture.
  • Ensure the cake pan fits comfortably in your Instant Pot and that water does not overflow.
  • You can add chopped nuts or raisins to the batter for extra flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
