Description

These Homemade Hot Pockets are the perfect lunch or snack on the go! Made with soft, pizza-like dough wrapped around a warm, cheesy filling, theyโ€™re a fun and delicious alternative to store-bought versions. Customize them with your favorite fillings

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup pizza sauce
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni, quartered
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • Activate the yeast: In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  • Make the dough: Stir in olive oil, flour, and salt until a sticky dough forms. Add a little more flour if needed.
  • Knead: Turn onto a floured surface and knead until smooth, adding up to 1/2 cup extra flour if necessary.
  • Rise: Grease a mixing bowl, place the dough inside, cover, and let rise until doubled (about 30 minutes).
  • Preheat the oven to 450ยฐF and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Form the pockets: Divide dough into equal portions and roll each into a hand-sized circle.
  • Fill the pockets: Spread pizza sauce on each circle, add pepperoni, mozzarella, and cheddar cheese. Fold into a half-moon shape and pinch edges to seal.
  • Bake: Arrange on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes, until golden brown.

Notes

  • Short on time? Use store-bought pizza dough instead of making your own.
  • Swap pepperoni for ham, veggies, or cooked chicken for variety.
  • Serve with extra pizza sauce for dipping.
