Ingredients
-
1 lb ground beef
-
1 onion, sliced
-
1 bell pepper, sliced
-
4 pita bread
-
1/2 cup tzatziki sauce
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
Olive oil
Instructions
-
Sauté Vegetables:
In a skillet over medium heat, add a drizzle of olive oil. Sauté the sliced onion and bell pepper until soft and slightly caramelized, about 5–7 minutes. -
Cook the Beef:
Push the veggies to one side of the skillet. Add ground beef to the other side, cooking until browned and crumbled, about 6–8 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, then stir everything together. -
Assemble the Gyros:
Warm pita bread slightly. Fill each pita with the beef and veggie mixture, and top with a generous spoonful of tzatziki sauce.
-
Serve:
Enjoy immediately, optionally garnished with chopped parsley or a squeeze of lemon juice for brightness.
Notes
-
Swap ground beef for ground lamb or turkey for a different twist.
-
Add diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, or crumbled feta for extra texture and flavor.
-
This recipe also works great as a rice bowl or salad topping.
