Description

Homemade Ground Chicken Sausage Patties are a delicious and savory breakfast treat with a touch of sweetness from grated apple and aromatic spices like sage, cinnamon, and nutmeg. These patties are perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1 small Granny Smith apple, grated
  • 1 small yellow onion, grated
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon sage
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons ghee, tallow, lard, or fat of choice for cooking

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, grated apple, grated onion, salt, garlic powder, sage, cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg. Mix until everything is well incorporated.
  2. Form the mixture into small patties, about 2-3 inches in diameter.
  3. Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium heat and add the ghee, tallow, or lard. Once the fat is hot, add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Remove the patties from the skillet and drain any excess oil on a paper towel.
  5. Serve immediately with your favorite sides or enjoy them on their own!

Notes

  • Feel free to adjust the seasoning to your taste. You can add more or less of the spices depending on your preference.
  • If you donโ€™t have ground chicken, ground turkey can be used as a substitute.
  • For a more traditional sausage flavor, you can add crushed red pepper flakes or fennel seeds.
