Description

Hearty Rye Melts are savory sandwiches loaded with a flavorful blend of ground beef and sausage, melted Velveeta cheese, and served on soft rye bread. Perfect for a comforting lunch or dinner, topped with fresh parsley for a touch of freshness.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
  • 1/2 pound bulk pork sausage
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 8 ounces Velveeta, shredded
  • 24 slices snack rye bread
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and pork sausage together until fully browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add chili powder to the meat mixture and stir to combine.
  3. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Assemble the sandwiches by placing a portion of the cooked meat mixture on a slice of rye bread. Top with shredded Velveeta, then cover with another slice of bread.
  5. Place sandwiches on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is lightly toasted.
  6. Remove from oven, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

  • For a crispier sandwich, toast the rye bread lightly before assembling.
  • Velveeta can be substituted with cheddar or mozzarella for different flavor profiles.
